Is there free parking at Volusia Beaches?

Beach driving or parking in a Park Volusia lot requires visitors of Volusia county to pay a fee. Residents can apply for the brand new virtual (non-sticker) parking permits at no cost. Non-residents can purchase the same parking permit. Beachgoers will no longer have the ability to apply/purchase an annual parking permit at beach toll booths, so apply online, Volusia County Beaches app, or visit a Park Volusia office. Parking programs maintained by municipalities (New Smyrna Beach, Daytona Beach) have separate processes and fees associated with parking lots.

What are the benefits of the new virtual permit program (license plate based)?

To find beach parking, Volusia County has an app where beachgoers can find real-time information about parking locations. At a glance, you will see where parking may be full or where parking spots may be available.

What is the visitor fee for beach driving without an annual parking permit?

As of October 1, 2024, the daily beach driving fee will increase to $30 per day (plus sales tax & any credit card fees) for any non-permitted vehicle. For quicker access to parking and to enjoy the beach, we strongly urge visitors to apply online and purchase the new virtual parking permit. Volusia County residents should also apply for their annual, "no-cost" resident parking permit prior to arriving at the beach.

Can I purchase an annual permit at Volusia beach entrance ramps?

No! Annual Parking permits WILL NO LONGER be able to be purchased at beach entrance ramps. Annual permits can only be purchased online, in the Volusia County Beaches app, or by visiting a Park Volusia office during business hours. Daily passes can be purchased at the beach entrance ramps.

Will I have to renew my permit annually?

Yes! Park Volusia resident and visitor beach parking permits must be renewed annually. Online applications make the process quick and easy, provided you have the right documentation.

What beaches in Volusia County can you drive on?

Driving on the beach is allowed on Daytona Beach and New Smyrna Beach. While driving on Ormond Beach is allowed, at times it is limited to four-wheel-drive vehicles. Only the southern tip of Ponce Inlet is open to beach driving.

Does it cost money to drive on a Volusia County beach?

Beginning on October 1, 2024, a beach parking permit will allow Volusia County residents to drive on a Volusia County beach for free. However, visitors will have to pay a daily fee or purchase an annual parking permit online or at a Park Volusia office. Volusia County residents must register their vehicles to avoid paying the fees.

What time does Volusia beach Open?

Volusia County beaches open to vehicles from 8:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. or sundown whichever is earlier from May 1 through Oct. 31, and between sunrise to sunset from Nov. 1 to April 30, tides permitting.

How can I register for my annual beach pass?

Beginning October 1st, residents can apply for a no-cost parking pass and visitors can purchase an annual pass here online, in the Volusia County Beaches app, and at the registration events. A new Park Volusia office in Daytona Beach Shores will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday, at 2422 S. Atlantic Ave on October 1st. Stay tuned for a New Smyrna Beach Park Volusia location that will open in the near future.

What documents will I need to get a Volusia County beach pass?

Whether you're applying online, in the app or in person, applicants will need to upload a valid driver's license, registration for each vehicle, and if a resident, proof of Volusia County residency or property ownership.

Visitor Passes

I purchased a sticker parking permit this past year. Do I need to apply for a virtual parking permit now?

Yes, your current sticker parking permit is still valid. When it expires, simply purchase the new virtual parking permit online, in the Volusia County Beaches app, or at one of our off-beach Park Volusia offices.

Can I get my beach parking permit at the beach?

As of October 1, 2024, annual permits WILL NO LONGER BE SOLD at the beach ramps. Permits must be purchased online, in the Volusia County Beaches app, or at a Park Volusia Office during business hours.

What information must I have to apply for a beach parking permit?

As a visitor of Volusia County, you will need a Driver’s License or State ID in addition to the vehicle’s registration in order to purchase a Park Volusia beach parking permit.

My family has two vehicles? Can we get a parking permit for each vehicle?

Yes, you can register multiple vehicles in your Park Volusia beach parking permit account. Simply provide all of the required documents for each individual vehicle.

I have a temporary rental. Can I park at the beach?

Yes, if you’re driving a rental or purchased a new vehicle, simply update your vehicle information in your Park Volusia beach parking permit account anytime throughout the year. Since the new virtual parking permits are managed through a vehicle license plate(s), parking stickers are no longer affixed to your current vehicle.
